Healthy Snacking

In an ideal world we’d manage to get from breakfast to lunch and from lunch to dinner without being tempted to snack. However there are times when, even in the best diet, blood sugar levels will fall and when that happens our bodies will demand food there and then. This is when we can fall into the danger zone of reaching for simple carbohydrates such as biscuits, crisps or chocolate bars. These snacks quickly release their energy into our blood stream causing a rapid rise in blood sugar levels and an equally rapid rise in insulin to bring[more] that level back down again. Insulin is great at this and not only gets rid of the excess sugar but also the sugar we would ordinarily be able to withstand. This causes us to get back to the stage where we again need food there and then and reaching again for that biscuit.

To avoid getting into this tedious loop plan ahead and make sure you’ve got healthy snacks ready to hand which will release their energy. Try the following ideas:
