Exam Nutrition

For some hard-working souls June means exam time and brains function better with better nutrition. Pay attention to: phospholipids and omega-3 fatty acids needed for healthy brain cell membranes; choline which is used to transport those lipids; and the amino acid taurine used in neurotransmitter function. Get omega-3 fortified eggs and all those can be ticked off in one healthy breakfast. This has the added advantage too of preventing hunger pangs and stomach rumblings in the middle of the ever-so-quiet exam hall. Don’t forget water either, after all around 75% of the brain is made of the stuff.

Taurine can also help with managing stress levels along with B vitamins and magnesium. A snack of almonds and peanuts will help with levels of both of these.
