Conceiving Folic Acid

If you're currently trying to conceive then it's important to remember the Government's guidelines on supplementing with folic acid to prevent spina bifida. However folic acid is the synthetic form of folate (vitamin B9) and it is believed that it is not as readily absorbed as the real thing. Whilst errm, practising, ensure you get plenty of cottage cheese, eggs, bananas, papayas, raspberries and green veg. Do this as well as supplementation and you be assured that your baby will be fortified with a range of phytonutrients alongside folate, as will you be.
